Deśha-bandhaśhcittasya dhāraṇā
deśha : place, locus, bodily spot
bandhaḥ : binding, fixing, concentrating on
cittasya : of mind (is called)
dhāraṇā : holding a focus
Sutra Meaning :
Fixing the mind at a locus is called concentration, holding [a focus].
सूत्र ३.१
देशबन्धश्चित्तस्य धारणा॥१॥
पदच्छेद एवं शब्दार्थ –
देश : देश (अर्थात्, स्थान विशेष में; विषय)
बन्धः : बांधना
चित्तस्य : चित्त को
धारणा : धारणा है॥
सूत्रार्थ –
चित्त को (किसी एक) देश विशेष में बांधना (अर्थात्, स्थापित करना, ठहराना, लगाना) धारणा है।

Fissare la mente in un luogo è chiamato concentrazione, tenendo [un fuoco].
